and your GP surgery to keep in touch.
Many of us carry a mobile phone and know
how useful text messaging can be.
The Patient Care Messaging service enables
your GP surgery to get in touch with you by
sending text messages to your mobile phone.
The kind of messages your GP surgery could send
There are numerous reasons that your GP may want to contact you using the convenience of text messaging. Some typical examples might include the following:
A reminder of an upcoming surgery appointment.
To ask you to bring documents or samples with you on your next visit.
To periodically collect important data to update your medical record.
To ask you to contact the surgery for more information about relevant services.
You can even reply to the messages, for example to ‘cancel’ or change your appointment OR please you the link 'cancel your appointment online' in this website to cancel your appointment.
How can I receive this service?
If your GP surgery already has your mobile phone number recorded, you will start to receive text messages from the Patient Care Messaging service automatically a few days before your next appointment.
If your GP surgery does not have your mobile phone number or you are unsure of whether your contact details are up to date, ask for your patient details to be updated. You can also complete the form below to request your details to be added in the text messaging system.
What if I do not want to receive text messages?
If you would prefer not to receive any communication from the surgery via text message please let us know by contacting us directly OR simply reply to any text message received and notify us that you wish to ‘Opt Out’ of the service.
